Description
A lovely small anglo indian carved 4-fold screen with lots of inlays on the front of the four hinged panels in different designs and a foliate motif inlay around the frames.We date this folding screen to the second half of the 20th century.
Each panel has an arched crest bordered by turned finials at the top end on both sides of the frames.
The screen has an overall height of 33” (84cm), an overall width of 44” (102cm) and an overall depth of ¾” (1.5cm) when fully opened. Each panel has a width of 11” (28cm). The overall depth is 2.5” (6cm) when completely folded.
This lovely screen remains in a good solid condition with minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage, including a few light indentations to some of the corners and around the edges. There are some minor marks around the feet from past use. The table is missing an amount of edge inlay and a small piece of carving on one of the crests as can be seen in the pictures.
This remains a very stylish and elegant screen. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
